The day that is set aside just for mothers all over the world. Sometimes I wonder if this day really is set aside or if this day is just a day us men can claim to "pamper" or give our mothers a "break". This thought occurred to me as I was making dinner for my wife, while she gave me the directions and ingredients. I wasnt doing it right so she needed to help me. Despite all the reserving of the day mom's really dont ever get a break.
My special sweetie truly hasnt had many breaks. Our life together started a little turbulent with some situations with family. Neither of us had a penny to our name, in fact we started with a bill collector calling and wanting to report us to credit! Our first mothers day we were on a phone call with a grandpa who said when are you going to have kids? I went to the store later that same day and we found out we were having our first. Another mothers day she was working full time and I was working 2 jobs just to make ends meet with her sister as a nanny. Her life has been one of work, work and more work.
My special sweetie has worked extra shifts, long shifts, and very hard even after both her kids were born and while I tried to go through. She has supported the family, financially, spiritually, emotionally, and even physically. She is there for every bump, bruise, blister and band aid. She is wise beyond her years in parenting, teaching, care and comfort.
Every year that goes by and every struggle I find more things about my special sweetie that reveal more strength and depth to her soul and character. In good times and hard times I have come to realize her deep capacity of love, strength, and friendship of this mother! She has amazed me, and helped me. She helps me and the kids through our impatient times, hard times, school times, seizures, sickness and tired and cranky times. There arent always the thanks and credit as she deserves. She has done this all with providing the extra support we have needed.
She is the one responsible for random holding when someone is tired, wants/needs to be held.
She gives armfuls and endless love to her family, me and our children.
She has a wonderful smile and always willing to go out and have a good time together just about anywhere and everywhere.
In fact she is the main and sometimes sole planner of nearly all the fun things we do. She does sometimes with grumblings and prudish attitudes from me or the kids. She still knows how to make it fun and plan it for everyone!
She finds the greatest things, takes great pictures, and has a great sense of humor that she can maintain and use even through the hard times and extra difficult things she has had to do.
She is the one behind all the pictures even when she doesnt get many pictures of her. She even is excellent at making sure the pictures are taken in just about every moment so that we can have all the treasures and memories that we do!
She is my special sweetie, my confidant, my hero, my best friend and my love for eternity!
This is what a mother is to me! Love ya babe! Thanks for all you do! Me and the kids love you more thank you might know!

what a beautiful tribute to the mother of your children!
Blake you are a romantic. I like that about you. I think you do have a wonderful wife and children
This tribute to Kira is so dang sweet. Made me tear up! I admire Kira so much because working mothers are amazing to me. They are ALL too often the target of judgement from stay at home moms. Full-time work, especially when you are dealing with the public and in a service like medicine (or in my case, it was education) is extremely draining physically and emotionally...and so is being a mother! And so between the two, you can barely hold a coherent conversation at the end of the day. That is so sweet that you recognize Kira's efforts to work and be a mother. I really admire Kira! And I admire you Blake!!
Thanks Alicia!
