We had a great few days in Yosemite! We slept on the hard ground and survived without cell phone service and internet which has been attached at the hip lately. Props to my wifey who pretty much planned and organized the whole thing. Props to my 2 year old and 5 year old who walked 2.5 miles up hill the whole way to Clothespin Redwood and then back down by themselves!
We did head in and first hit Bridal Vail Falls. There was so much water that there was an inch and a half of water streaming over and down the trail. The people there said that it was the highest the Merced River has been and the best the BVF falls have been since '97! Needless to say we were drenched and J'alee was crying cus she didnt want to get wet. Baby J just wanted to go again!
Next we drove around the valley and hiked the Lower Falls of Yosemite Falls. That one we didnt get wet but it was a longer and better hike than BVF. We took the tour bus up to Glacier Point and saw the sunset there. We snapped some shots of Nevada Falls and I think it was Stanton Falls? Also got some of Glacier Point and Half Dome as well. Then then night came and we listened to a park worker point out and tell us about the stars. We found the bears (ursa major and minor) the dragon, swan, and of course the scorpion. When the lady said that the scorpion was big Baby J said "the dragon is bigger". Gave me a little chuckle.
The next day we drove through the park and into Mariposa Grove. This is where we hiked the 2.5 miles up to Clothespin Redwood. We saw the California Tunnel Tree, the Fallen Mother, Grizzly Tree and others. You will see them with their signs in the slide show. The kids were the ultimate troopers as we pushed them further tried to play games and sing the theme songs from their favorite tv shows like Little Einstines, Wonder Pets, Ni Hao Kia Lan, Super Why. We did have a melt down at Clothespin so we came back down but that was a lot of walking for them.
All in all it was a fun trip. See the photos below:
