The center of the Capitol Rotunda, which used to be the center of the building, has a tomb built underneath it. It was meant for General Washington. Well it wasn’t finished in time and his will indicated he wanted to be buried at Mt Vernon. Then the state of Virginia passed a law that said Washington could only be buried in Virginia.
