Birch Bay Fun

We stayed in Birch Bay.  It was off season still so a lot of things were closed and it was very low key and slow.  It did seem that many people came out at night though and all the bars were busy.  Maybe thats just the lifestyle there.  But it was a nice little town.

We ate at Shores Resturaunt a few times.  The service wasnt that great but the food was pretty decent.  We also at at BOBs Burger place.  There are several across Western Washington.  We didnt particularly like the food that much there, even the ginger ale wasn't great.  They do have a hamburger that you can get with a hot dog in it so if you are looking for the answer to the age old question at a BBQ "hamburger or hot dog" you can now say both!

Here is the Bay with the tide out.  I loved the ripples in the sad the water made as it was going out!
 Cute kiddo on the beach!
Learning to walk on the sand was interesting.
Saw something moving in the pool of water left as the tide went out.  Looked down and I found dinner....I mean a crab!  Dont worry not crabs were harmed by me while we were there.  I actually walked out into the bay a ways and let this poor guy loose.  There were plenty of seagulls and crane just squackin' "mine mine mine" though so I thought i better give him a sporting change and get him back into the bay.
The kids were very Leary of coming to look at the crab, especially Baby J who freaked out and ran away from me.  At least J'alee got this close.
There were some cranes that were big and quite stunning.  Here is just after it snapped at something in the water.  It almost looks like a floater from a fishing line though.
Thank goodness for a long lens I was able to get this.  I actually got fairly close and then the long lens helped me to capture more detail than I normally would have.
