An artistist named Augusta Bartholdi, in 1884 created a statue with the assistance of engineer by the name of Gustave Eiffel. Bartholdi was an abolitionist and was moved and inspired by the America for the civil rights acts past in 1860 that he and Eiffle created a statue which he called "Liberty Enlightening the World". We now call her Lady Liberty. Today in 1885 she arrived in the Hudson in 200 crates ready to be assembled! via Instagram http://ift.tt/2sEio8t
