I was given an opportunity from a friend today to look at things differently. This friend was quite brave and approached it sensitively yet firmly which is exactly what I needed. I might have normally reacted quite negatively. In all reality I took it in such a way that would have been something like "well thanks for your advice but you dont understand". We have all had situations like this. Fortunately I had time to reflect on what was said and what happened and realized that this person was actually right. So thank you Sister C.
I have had quite frustrating days at work. Interestingly enough it wasnt due to work load it was really due to a lack thereof. My sweetie also had to leave me to go work in Cali for about a week and I had to skip two activities with my daughter that I promised I would go to because of work meetings all of which got cancelled literally last minute or even a few minutes after the meeting started.
I was tonight writing to a friend who is now in China and thought of the people of Lemhi in the city of Nephi. They were in bondage to the Lamanites and had heavy taxes, duties or burdens placed on them. They turned to God and prayed for help. It says specifically in the scriptures that he didnt take away their burdens but he did make them feel lighter that they were able to bare them. I think of the invitation in Matthew where it says to take His yoke upon us for it is easy and His burden is light. I immediately thought of a talk from Jeffery R. Holland who said that many faithful people ignore the basic invitation to do such a thing.
Yes I was negative about a small thing, my job. Yes there are many other benefits to it which I wont go into. My friend was right and along with that I was reminded that no matter what our load might be or feel like to us we can have it made lighter through faith and prayer. It is our choice.
